It was wonderful to celebrate International Women’s Day at several events during March.

We held our own IWD lunch at the beautiful Alexandra Club attended by 100 friends and supporters. It was a wonderful celebration of women with reflections on the great deal of work still to be done to achieve gender equality. Key note speaker, Veronica Milsom entertained with her refreshing perspective on sharing the mental load and the lunch was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

WPI was named charity partner for the Property Council of Australia’s International Women’s Day Longest Lunch. This glittering event saw more than 1000 guests gather to celebrate IWD 2024 and women across the property sector. The crowd heard from Sarah Walsh, Head of Women’s Football at Football Australia, Lord Mayor, Sally Capp and representatives of the Property Council of Australia and event sponsors, Urbis and Fraser’s Property. Our very own Jeanette Large and Lucy Simms also addressed the large crowd.

Attendees at the lunch generously bought raffle tickets and bid on live auction items to raise an amazing $43K which will help us fund the final two homes of our “25 homes by 2025” goal that we announced on WPI’s 25th anniversary. Thank you Property Council of Australia for this fantastic opportunity to partner with you, our auctioneer, Rick Massese from Property Initiatives Real Estate and to our wonderful donors from Mecca, Football Australia and Lon Retreat. Warm thanks also to our fabulous volunteers from Arup, Property Council, Built, CHL, Beveridge Williams, Gallagher Jeffs, Cushman Wakefield, Demos Property Services M3Group, JLL, WT Partnership.

We were also thrilled to attend celebrations at Scalzo Foods and Piccolo, organisations that champion women and support WPI to deliver more homes for women.
