Help us deliver our next

100 HOMES

for women & children

Every night

54,000 WOMEN DON’T

HAVE A HOME to sleep in.

Why do we provide homes?

We exist to provide secure and affordable homes for low income women and women led families, because they are least likely to have access to them. Appropriate and secure housing is a basic human need and right that is not being adequately met by the public or private sectors. Housing has never been more unaffordable.

100 new homes

As the women’s homelessness crisis continues to worsen, we remain focused on what matters most: delivering safe, secure and affordable homes for women.

Because every woman deserves A Home for Her Life.
And every home we provide has the power to change a life.

We have set an ambitious new goal: to deliver 100 new homes for women and their children, that will end this crisis for 100 women and their families.

Homes Secured

What we do

WPI provides long-term housing solutions that help to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. Our homes provide a foundation for happy and healthy lives. We currently own and manage 140 high quality, long-term homes and manage more than 160 social and affordable homes on behalf of other organisations. In total our homes accommodate more than 520 women and children.

Help us help women escape our housing crisis

The 2021 Census data shows that on any given night, there are almost 54,000 Australian women* who are homeless. You may know one of them. The number of women who are homeless is growing at a faster rate than men. Two out of every three people approaching homeless services are female, and 1 out of every two are turned away because these crises services are overwhelmed.

Why do we need more affordable homes for women?

Women face inherent financial disadvantage that stems from gender inequality and restricts access to secure and affordable housing. Women earn less than men. They have limits on their ability to work full-time and they spend more time out of the workforce caring for children and the elderly – work that is unpaid and chronically undervalued.

The projects

We have several projects in the pipeline that focus on women who need it most, including older women at risk of homelessness and women with children escaping family violence.

Our supporters

WPI homes allow women to heal from trauma, live with dignity and contribute to their communities.
