We are delighted to announce that our CEO Jeanette Large is a Victorian finalist in the 2015 Telstra Business Women's Awards

As a finalist in the For Purpose, Social Enterprise category Jeanette is being recognised for the many years of passion and commitment she has devoted to addressing the need and lack thereof safe, secure and affordable housing for women and their children and her innovative thinking and leadership that led WPI to establish a social enterprise in response to this shortage.

The first of its kind in Australia, Property Initiatives Real Estate is a for-profit, full-service real estate agency developed to create an alternative revenue stream into WPI and build more affordable housing for women and children in need at a time when demand is high but government funding is lacking.  Since opening its doors in April, Property Initiatives Real Estate has been steadily building its rent roll and won a tender to be the preferred property manager for the Grocon development in Bouverie St Carlton.

Jeanette believes ‘the innovation of having a for-profit working for a not-for-profit is exciting and challenging, but with the ultimate outcome being the provision of more safe, secure, good quality affordable rental housing for women and children in need, it is something that I am passionate about to make sure it is successful and achieves the mission of WPI - building a future for women and children in need.  It is only through the provision of a home that this can be achieved.’

The Victorian Awards Dinner will be held at the Crown Palladium on the 20th October where the winner in each category will be announced.
